So after about seven months of life underwater, life is good once again!
Work on the house is finally done, the worst of the weather is behind us, I’m transitioning nicely into my new job after a few bureaucratic scares with my paperwork, the kids no longer talk about having nightmares about the relatives we were living with, and I have an oven to bake pies in once more.
Unfortunately we did catch Tove and Anders’ winter vomiting disease, but frankly after everything else it was really just a pleasant break in the routine.
It’s a wonderful situation now—so good that a very nice lady at the new place I’m working just donated a couple hundred dollars in supplies to get me set up. I’ve never met her before now, and I doubt she’ll recoup personally, but it’s extremely reassuring to escape the world of borderline personality disorder and find my new place of employment has people who act totally outside of selfish motivations or financial rewards.
Who knows how long this will last, but I can definitely pass on one piece of helpful advice to my readers:
AVOID CRAZY, STUPID, AND BAD PEOPLE
Whether it’s at the workplace or at home, seriously, it’s just not worth it.

once you've got a decade on this, (and the smaller children context) one can level up and police them, not just avoid, ...curiously while just as stressful in the moment it does not seem to grind one down long term, and the one after than might be easier yet....
